Sewon, 22 September 2026 — After previously moving to AUVI and the Faculty of Recording Media Arts area, Sewon Screening is finally returns to the Concert Hall and the former rectorate courtyard of ISI Yogyakarta. Returning to its original home brings significant changes to the festival’s overall venue arrangement. With a more organized program layout, the festival is now ready to offer a much more enjoyable viewing experience for everyone who attends. So, what are the benefits for visitors?
directly opposite each other, visitors can easily move from one program to another without having to walk too far or feel tired.
The convenience can even be felt from the moment you park your vehicle. The parking area around the former rectorate complex is quite spacious and can accommodate the large number of visitors who usually arrive during peak hours. There is no longer any need to drive around looking for a parking spot or walk a long distance just to reach the festival entrance.
A more comfortable viewing experience
Once inside the screening room, the improvement in comfort is particularly noticeable compared to the previous venue. The Concert Hall’s ample capacity can reduce the possibility of audiences running out of seats. Combined with a wider projection screen and excellent acoustics, every cinematic detail of the films can be experienced more clearly and immersively.
Audience mobility has also received extra attention in this year’s venue arrangement. All the main activities, from watching short films and exploring the exhibition to browsing physical releases at the merchandise booths, are now concentrated on the first floor of the Concert Hall. Visitors no longer have to tire themselves out climbing stairs or walking between distant buildings just to catch their next screening.
A comfortable cafeteria become a favorite place to unwind
Beyond the technical aspects of the screenings, the open area in the former rectorate courtyard has become a lively gathering spot. Breaks between screening sessions can be spent relaxing while enjoying food from the vendors or simply sitting together and talking about the film you have just watched. The combination of an organized indoor space and a more relaxed outdoor area brings back the atmosphere of a film festival as a place for gathering and connecting.
Those are some of the benefits visitors can look forward to when attending Sewon Screening 12. The festival’s decision to return to the Concert Hall is a tangible expression of its appreciation for audience comfort. It is not simply about having access to more complete facilities, but also about creating a warm and welcoming space for everyone to meet and share experiences. The celebration of cinema becomes even more memorable when it takes place in a venue that is truly ready to accommodate the enthusiasm of its audience.
