Bandung, June 26, 2025 – A breath of fresh air can take many forms as long as it opens new perspectives and fosters critical thinking. Interestingly, this edition of Layar Tandang Bandung did exactly that, creating new viewpoints among the audience, leaving them guessing: was it the films, the curation, or the space itself that stirred something within?

Semarang, June 20, 2025 – After stopping by the City of Heroes, Sewon Screening 11 continued its roadshow screenings and made its second visit to Kota Lama, Semarang. In this edition of Layar Tandang Semarang, Sewon Screening collaborated with Sineroom, a Semarang-based alternative cinema collective focused on film exhibition and appreciation. The event was also supported by Tekodeko and Rumah Pohan, both celebrating their 10th anniversaries this year by providing the venue for the screening. Adding to the excitement, Layar Indonesiana joined as a partner and sponsor, presenting the “NGOBRAS” (Ngobrol Bahas Sinema) session an open discussion centered around ideas for the Layar Indonesiana 2025 Short Film Production Competition.

“Ready Yourself, Desire Awaits!”
The name of the Layar Tandang Surabaya program was chosen to reflect the overarching theme of Sewon Screening 11 Resistance. It draws from narratives about strong desires that arise but must contend with challenges and ideological differences. In such circumstances, a fundamental question emerges:

In its 11th edition, this independent film festival reaffirms its commitment to reaching a broader audience. Sewon Screening is no longer just for circles or film practitioners, now it’s open to everyone. Through a diverse range of inclusive programs and visualizations that are easily accessible to the public, the festival serves as a shared space to enjoy films from diverse perspectives.
